Overview
Forty Years of Young Creators
For its fortieth anniversary, St Martins Youth Arts Centre in Melbourne needed a website that matched its creative voice. We redesigned the site and built forty forty, a landing experience sharing forty stories from forty years.
Context
Forty Years of Youth Theatre in Melbourne
St Martins Youth Arts Centre has spent forty years making contemporary theatre and drama with young people. For the anniversary they wanted a website that respected that history and looked forward. It had to hold a lot: the depth of their work, a broad range of programs and a stage for forty forty, the anniversary project. It also had to be beautiful without being confusing, for patrons, students, parents and the wider creative community.
The Shift
Digital Voice to Match Creative Ambition
The existing website did not match the creative voice of the organisation. At the heart of the shift was forty forty: forty stories from forty years, told by alumni, directors and some of Australia’s most respected creatives who grew through St Martins. The platform needed to host these stories with intention while meeting the day-to-day needs of a school, theatre company and arts hub.
So it had to be expressive and still easy to use. Patrons and funders needed to be inspired, parents and students needed to trust it, and everyone needed to see how good, imaginative and serious the organisation is.

Our Approach
An Artistic Platform with Practical Depth
Beyond forty forty, the site is part portfolio, part information hub. Program listings, performance history, enrolments and community engagement all live there, and it still feels like St Martins made it.
The Work
Identity-Led Website Redesign Deliverables
We redesigned the website around St Martins’ creative identity, with a custom landing experience for forty forty and navigation that stays clear however expressive the pages get.
It is a fast, responsive WordPress build, and its storytelling modules handle program listings, archives and campaigns still to come.
Impact
The site captures the creative spirit of St Martins while staying practical for a diverse audience. The forty forty page became the centrepiece of the anniversary, bringing forty years of stories into one expressive space.
St Martins sounds more like itself now: confident and contemporary. The work gets the depth it deserves, parents and students can make decisions more easily and partners and patrons have a reason to get involved.
St Martins now has a platform that reflects both their history and their future: a place where young people’s stories, performances and creativity can keep growing.
